Immensità" di

Una delle più belle notti della
mia vita,

Vivere Firenze !
Conoscerla, capirla, sentirla, odiarla, amarla odiarla,
Most Beautiful Nights of My Life. May 18, 2006 <><><><><> To Live Florence! To know Florence, to understand it, to feel it, to hate it, to love it, to hate it, to love it , to hate it deeply for its traffic , and for the endless lateness of its buses, worsened by the “blessed” work for the new tram system. To hate it for its frequently oppressing, humid weather, fo r its smog, for... To love it, to love it deeply for being an open-air museum, for it’s quality of elegance in form and color, and its slyness and ironic character, because I could go crazy for the pappa al pomodoro, la ribollita, la bistecca alla fiorentina, la trippa dishes, as well as le carozzelle, la paglietta, songs of Edoardo Spadaro of Riccardo Marasco, because I no longer remember how many times I enjoyed playing with the lines and the roundness of the facade of the Santo Spirito church, or losing myself in admiration of the Church of the Carmine, in the chapel with frescoes by Masolino and Massaccio, for those secret paths of the heart that no one knows, not even I, myself, when I look at the Arno ( even if no longer “silver”) from the Florentine bridges I go searching for and researching that dialogue between people and things, between stones and faces, over pathways and asphalt through gardens, by... Today, May 18 - arrives a surprising surprise! Tonight is the début of “Musical Wednesdays” sponsored by the Ente Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze-. and it takes place in the auditorium of Via Folco Portinari 5r (a street dedicated to the memory of Dante’s Beatrice) I knew of it for some time, in fact I went there frequently and since April of 2004 I have always returned with a certain feeling in my heart that I cannot hide, because it was here that the Camarata dei Poeti (President Marcello Fabbri) dedicated one whole magical after-noon to my poetry, and here I am thinking about it exactly on the anniversary of the occasion, a Wednesday ( it was April 28, 2004). I am with Maria Rosaria who comes from Umbria, and loves music and is an expert in it, as well as being extremely knowledgeable on the subject of Florentine traditions - a real “encyclopedia” of facts, and she also has been my personal Fashion Stylist for some time, the exceptional creator of the styles that I wear; it was so lucky for me to have met her Among the great personalities present is the President of the Bank Ente Cassa di Risparmio, the lawyer Edoardo Speranza (a well-known Florentine whom I have frequently had the opportunity to define as farsighted and wise-); The Maestro Giuseppe Lanzetta, man of a warm, southern temperament (my parents are also from the South) and for whom I felt a liking; Saverio Tamburini (with whom I had already been corresponding for some time) and who is, in fact, the representative of the famous Tamburini Organ factory of Crema which performed the miraculous restoration of the unique Florentine Organ designed by Clemente Terni in the 1970’s; the indefatigably busy News Correspondent Dr. Barletti; with the nice collaborator and her mother; the prime actor of the evening, the organist Javier Artigas Pina who comes from the passionate Spain and with whom I would have liked to speak at length especially given that warmth and color of the Spanish language “ el idioma que mas quiero” but I timidly did not even greet him. This Inauguration is an important part of Florentine cultural life - filling a cultural gap in the city: an event of the present which is already part of the future because, thanks to an agreement with the Conservatorio Cherubini on November 6, 2006, young students who will be organists of the future will play here weekly.. … ..It is the inheritance which is passed on, the knowledge which lives and since I, too, have been teaching in the University, I touch by hand how important it is that the vital sap of culture pass on to young descendants, in order that a beautiful, bursting Spring may blossom every time-despite everything.) But let us return to the narration of this night, when even the Angels from Paradise have decided to meet to listen... Still, sitting in the last row, I am carried by this tempest of notes, of sounds, of... without a second to pause. I am happy, dancing myself like the notes on the musical score, in absolute silence where I can hear even the breathing of the angels and the beating of hearts... Let’s run! Let’s get lost! Give me a kiss! Now, only now is our moment and how those lightening bugs shine and how sweet are the blueberries in this night of May, where I go picking every small note to give it to you at dawn, at sunset. Sparkling more, twinkling in the spirit and flying, they fly freely because they can, - they are notes. One, two, three, 1, 2, 3, we are playing the game of love, don’t tell me no, take me by my hand- high up low down. one two three we beat the rhythm, we fly, we fly, we’ll have a long time to be alone. I like this concert: it is beautiful. It is very high. I like this concert: it is strong, it is sweet and I open my eyes to dream of an Organ which palpitates the miracle of the touch of Javier’s hands. How I would love to be that air that penetrates the silver pipes and then I would expand and vibrate occupying all the space without ever having been seen; to be part of the immensity of this evening, with the body, with the soul, with the heart, and with the mind; the notes are carrying me beyond the sea, towards new landings, where everything is... Sparkling notes, speaking notes, crystalline chiming notes. I can’t not “tell about them” and I run after them through fields of daisies, grass and leaves, when in my hair and on my body I will have just petals of flowers But how do notes penetrate you from one side to the other without wounding you? They are invisible but they conquer you: they do everything in this magic night, they even shine and this evening more beautiful than usual with a diamond-like beauty they fill the heart, causing dizziness. I stand praying, the emotion overwhelms me: I have been totally absorbed by this storm of notes that brings me afar, I can not refuse, I know. It is the stars tonight and the angels and all of Creation, if I knew, if I could, if I wanted to, if... The music is absolute, it pretends silence, the music is powerful It doesn’t permit distraction Music is Liberty It makes you fly Music is immense, it leads you I am in the immensity, I feel the immensity, I live the immensity under the architecture of a wooden roof which lets through small spots of nightly blue sky on the lines of the terracotta of Impruneta pavement of the auditorium to... searching for and researching that dialogue..., Carmelina 4 Novembre Programma del 4 NOVEMBRE 2006 "Contro al cieco fiume: quarant'anni dopo" mostra alla Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Firenze David Lees for Life.
