Dear Carmelina,

Here is our story, as I remember it….



My darling aunt, Bert, went on a tour of Italy….and made friends with Carmelina….and continued their friendship through letters when she returned to California. She told me about Carmelina, and how kind and friendly she was. Then, in 1995, I went to Italy to see my new grand daughter, Sarah, who had just been born in Firenze. I looked up Carmelina, and we became friends during my visit. I was doing a lot of painting during my stay in Italy….and she was writing poetry. We collaborated on an exhibit in my home town, Chester, California, when I returned from Italy. Since then, Carmelina and I have remained in touch, via email…I recently had another exhibit in Quincy, California of paintings of Italy….
