A summary

Marvelous meetings in Florence this summer

For an open international exchange among librarians

Dedicated to the excellent organizing staff: Anna Maria Tammaro, Sara Piccolo...Fondazione Rinascimento digitale...speakers, audience, catering staff and many others.

We live far away all over the world (20 countries are represented from 5 continents), but for the 8th Northumbria International Conference on Performance Measurement in Libraries and Information Services we all come together to examine the real situation of libraries: space, equipment, resources, hope.

Our goals. We discuss libraries plus adding value in the cultural community libraries. There is a positive link between cultural investment and economic development. At the conference we participate in activities and conversations.

We ask:
Why do some people not visit libraries?

We share suggestions: Did you benefit from visiting the library? Did you consult the reference staff, did you obtain help, did you consult with an information worker?

We investigate the GAPS between librarians and the expectations of library users.

The world will change with us or without us. Librarians hope that it will be with them.

The library should be a safe space where librarians and library users are comfortable, enjoy their time and increase their knowledge.

Librarians: let's investigate our roots to improve the future.

Three fantastic meetings: emerging trends in technolgy, cataloging and classifications, and this meeting on performance measurements.

The dialogue is now open for you.

Share your opinions:
What's the positive aspect of the 8th conference?
What's the negative aspect of the conference?
Comments? Suggestion?

Must libraries change? Or not? How?

What are the essential elements of a healthy library? Give them in priority order:

other?

Please write two sentences to introduce your library:
