CONVEGNO MONDIALE DI INGEGNERIA DEL VENTO A FIRENZE, PER LA PRIMA VOLTA IN ITALIA IN 60 ANNI DI STORIA (27-31 AGOSTO 2023 

la 16° edizione della Conferenza Internazionale di Ingegneria del Vento, ICWE16, il più importante, quadriennale, evento dell’associazione IAWE (International Associations for Wind Engineering) sarà ospitato in Italia, a Firenze, per la prima volta nei suoi (quasi) 60 anni di storia. 

Organizzata con il patrocinio dell’Associazione Italiana per l’Ingegneria del Vento (ANIV), dell’Università di Firenze (attraverso il Centro di Ricerca

 

CRIACIV) ed in collaborazione con AIMGroup Int. (sede di Firenze), la conferenza si è tenuta  al Palazzo dei Congressi di p.za Adua dal 27 al 31 agosto 2023 sotto la Presidenza dei Prof.ri Claudio Borri (Chairman) e Gianni Bartoli (Co-Chairman) dell’ Univ. di Firenze.

 

Dopo due anni di drastica riduzione degli scambi scientifici, professionali e accademici a causa della pandemia, siamo pronti ad accogliere la grande comunità di ingegneri del vento all’evento principale della IAWE nella splendida cornice fiorentina.

Embracing Global Perspectives - A few takeaways from ICWE 

 

As an international researcher from India and currently working in Germany, attending the ICWE conference with a group of international scientific minds was a genuine global experience. The historic city of Florence, in the heart of Italy, served as the perfect backdrop for this gathering. 

One of the most rewarding aspects of the conference was the opportunity to interact with fellow attendees from diverse countries and backgrounds. Sharing experiences, insights, and perspectives with such a multicultural group added a unique dimension to the conference. 

 

Florence is a city that seamlessly blends culture, technology, and engineering, much like the great artist and scientist Leonardo da Vinci, who once roamed its streets. 

 

For someone like me with a background in structural, risk, and wind engineering, the conference offered a variety of fascinating topics and discussions. Witnessing and experiencing how these topics transcend borders by uniting researchers and practitioners worldwide in advancing the field was highly motivating and reassuring.

 

Attending the conference in Florence was more than just an academic endeavor but a cultural and intellectual experience. The city's rich history and the global perspectives shared at the gathering left an unforgettable mark on my research journey.

It was a reminder that in today's interconnected world, collaboration and exchanging ideas across borders are fundamental for advancing our understanding and making the world we live in a better place.
